Starting a gate guarding job with JG Security in Alice, TX was a promising opportunity that unfortunately met delays. These setbacks can be frustrating but are not uncommon in the industry. Staying flexible and patient during these times is crucial for successfully navigating through such situations.
We couldn’t wait for the delays to clear up without pay, so I made a few calls and found another company that had a gate available.
We packed up and headed for Cotulla, TX. We were told that we would fill out our paperwork and head to a gate about 30 minutes from the office. Upon arrival at the office, we were told they changed our gate location while we were driving. Instead of a 30 minute trip to the gate we were now going 3 hours east, near Cuerro, TX. We fueled up and followed the maintenance guy 3 hours east.
When we arrived at the gate, the previous 24 hour guards had already gone. There was a single 12 hour guard waiting for us. She handed off the packet and clipboard. Gave me a few instructions and was gone. While I was busy with trucks Brian and the maintenance guy searched for the best location for the Cougar to sit. As it was now getting dark we picked a spot on top of a hill. The original spot was no longer an option per the company man’s instructions.
Just before dark a spot was decided upon. We got the Cougar parked and started logging in trucks.
Here are a few photos of our set up.
