Sobe: a Life Well Lived
Sobe came to us in the fall of 2003. We went to the pound and saw this skinny, long legged, funny dog. The women at the pound had named him Sobe after the energy drink. He would climb the 6 foot kennels to be with the big dogs. It was like he had springs in his legs for how high he could jump from a sitting position.
He had one ear that stood straight up and the other flopped over. Immediately we fell in love with him. We had his first vet visit and the veterinarian told us he was about 2 yrs old.
The boy loved to run! He would run low to the ground with his tail tucked. Those long legs coming from behind like they were racing the front legs.
He loved to chase rabbits on our Red Mountain property. About 15 rabbits would come into the yard and then he and Princess would chase them back out.
He loved camping and hiking. One time our daughter Beth had gone on a hike with us. Sobe kept going back and forth between Brian, Beth and I. He would run ahead to catch up to Brian then come back to check on Beth and I. If it weren’t for him Beth and I would have been off course on our turns.
When he was about 13 years old we had to do some serious dental on him. He lost 14 teeth, spent the 4th of July in doggy ICU, but came through it all like a champ.
He moved all over with us and even to California. He loved running on the beach and jumping tide pools.
When we moved back to Washington State he was a great travel buddy. He wasn’t so sure when having to ride in our Class A motorhome though.
He was a real trooper! Sobe my boy, you will be forever missed by so many. We thank God that he brought you into our lives.
Princess

Princess: Daddy’s girl, Momma’s baby
(May 31, 2008 – January 17, 2025)

Princess was born May 31st 2008 on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. She came to our family before she was even born. The day we knew her momma was going to have puppies we requested a female. She was the only female in a litter of 3. She came home to stay with us in August of 2008. She arrived to meet her 2 brothers, Oscar and Sobe. Who she protected fiercely til his end of days.
Our lives were filled with her spunk and so much love. Her full name was Princess Little Shit. She lived up to her name in many ways.
She was well traveled. She made many miles riding with us. Mostly in Washington State. We started a new journey in 2022 and Princess was always excited to be along for the ride! When she was done she was done! “Are we there yet?” comes to mind. She loved to visit her bestie Belle but about 10 minutes after arriving she was ready to go home. Can’t leave daddy alone to long.
Her birthdays were always filled with love and doggy crack. (marshmallows) In 2018 Princess was diagnosed with CHF. The dr’s put her on medications and told us she had about 2 good years left. She loved berries, fruits and veggies. Several vets across our travels said those were the keys to her longevity. She showed them. She lived another 7 years!
In late 2024 she started having seizures. She was put on medications for those and continued to be here happy bossy lil self. Then in January 2025 some dementia and longer more frequent seizures started happening.
January 17, 2025 we said our good byes and she passed peacefully in daddy’s arms where she always loved to be.
Run free with Sobe and Oscar chasing rabbits and squirrels.
