Are you seeking security or adventure?
Why can’t we have both?

Is it not part of our human nature to want to be safe and secure? Yet have a great sense of adventure?
I do not understand how we can not have both. 2020 really opened a lot of eyes and hearts to these topics.
Things were really about to change for many people. We were told we had to stay home. We could not socialize with friends. Shopping became so crazy some learned we had to download apps on our phones and just have someone bring it to the car with NO contact.
I personally love to travel and seek out new adventures. My dad was a construction worker. We traveled most of the West coast through the Midwest , US. We even traveled out of the country and lived in Venezuela when I was a teen. Travel is in my blood!
Even then I did occasionally want to put down roots and have some security. I watched friends who’s families had generations on a farm, going to a college that grandpa/grandma attended, and some who had know each other from birth to death. So having security in your home is equally important as travel.
Security in your home might not just be your personal living space but the area in which you live. Knowing your neighbor is just down the road. Familiar places you can get away to like this beautiful lake on the East side of Stevens Pass, WA. Having that security that I know it is there, is warming. At the same time it is also adventure. Hiking around those areas can always be a new adventure with different seasons. Different ways to explore!

Security in your home can be what you live in as well. We have been traveling for work now the past few years. In Minnesota we lived in an apartment. I felt safe and secure in it. We would take drives to check out the areas where we lived. That was usually a fun adventure! In late 2023 we bought out 32′ Cougar 5th Wheel. We have the security of having our home with us where ever we go. We also had the adventures of moving around not being tied to any one place.
In North Dakota, Brian worked at a piling station and then the following year for a farm driving trucks during potato and beet harvest. We are looking forward to going back this year again. We have the security of the job waiting for us and the adventures we will find along the 1600 mile trip getting back up there. Even Princess is excited for the adventure of reading more Pee-Mails along the adventure.

We took on work in Texas in the oil fields. That is great job security. The 5th Wheel ads another element of home security.

Here are a few more photos of our adventures and security we enjoy.

We are doing this traveling to earn the money needed to start our homestead next spring. We are enjoying the adventures we have along the way. Some good some not so good but the “not so good” ones are great life lessons! When we do settle down on the homestead I’m sure there will be plenty of new adventures!

Life is an Adventure! We can find security in many ways. We choose to find both in our every day life while we Enjoy Positive Living!
