“Are we there yet mom?” (10 Min into the drive)
Princess and I left Kingman, Arizona on October 30th. Our journey took us from the sunny deserts of Arizona, through the picturesque landscapes of Tucumcari, New Mexico, and then further north through the heart of America. We crossed through the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, and North Dakota before finally arriving in the beautiful state of Minnesota on November 2nd, where we found ourselves in the welcoming town of Thief River Falls.
The vast and diverse landscapes we encountered seemed to reflect the rich tapestry of America itself, from the arid beauty of the southwest to the rolling plains and farmlands of the heartland. Each state we passed through had its own unique charm, and the journey was as much about the people we met and the experiences we had along the way as it was about the physical distance we traveled.
As we traversed through these states, we were struck by the warmth and hospitality of the people we encountered, as well as the incredible natural beauty that unfolded before us. It was a journey that not only connected us with new places but also with the spirit of the American heartland, leaving us with memories to cherish for a lifetime.
We had secured our apartment over the phone with the property management company before Princess and I left Arizona. Brian was able to get there the day before and get a few essentials we would need. While I was drivng Brian had done some shopping. He bought a very comfortable air bed, sheets, comforter set and things for the kitchen and bathroom.
It’s crucial to have all the necessary arrangements in place before embarking on a move. The act of securing the new apartment with deposits provides peace of mind, ensuring that the place will be ready and waiting upon arrival. This attention to detail and foresight can alleviate unnecessary stress during the relocation process, allowing for a smoother transition.
Even though it was a long drive. I really did enjoy seeing the wheat fields in the fall. Not everything had been harvested yet. So there were lots of beautiful colors to see.
We had also rented a storage unit on the other side of town for things we didn’t have room for. We unloaded them and settled into the apartment. As we hauled up several totes of belongings and food , each item seemed to find its place, bringing a sense of familiarity to the unfamiliar surroundings. It was a fulfilling feeling, knowing that we were creating a home out of a blank canvas. The storage unit, was very helpful as the small 1 bedroom apartment couldn’t hold everything we had. Our new apartment slowly transformed into our new home, filled with pieces of our past and present, merging seamlessly to form a cozy sanctuary. It was a time of transition, adjustment, and new beginnings, each moment woven into the tapestry of our lives.
Another long journey came to a close and a new one already begining. The positives are we are together again and working.
