Kolaches, BBQ, Friends and Family

September 18, 2022

We said our goodbyes to Beth in San Antonio and headed north towards Dallas to visit with a friend of ours.

There is a delicious Kolache place just South of Dallas. We stopped there to get a few pastries for breakfast on the road. What is a Kolache? Click this link to find out what a KOLACHE is. Once you have had one you will want to go back for another. Sorry no pictures this time, they didn’t last. We did pick up a few of Rhett’s favorites to deliver.

Traffic through Dallas was not horrible so we made good time getting up to Anna, TX. We were excited to see our friend Rhett. His brother had arranged for us to stay at his house. Rhett and I went out to grab some take out dinner. It had been a long day for Brian and I. We just needed some down time and visit with our friend.

We spent a few days there and Rhett gave me a tour of where he works in The Colony, Texas. Nebraska Furniture Mart. It is a huge store! Everything you could want for your home and more! He also took me to see one of my childhood bucket list items. He drove me out to see South Fork Ranch. For those who remember the TV show DALLAS, one of the opening scenes was of the house and ranch. Of course time has changed the area and the North 40 is all housing. It was something I have always wanted to see though. Thank you Rhett for being such a great tour guide!

Beth surprised us by driving up to have a quick visit with us and Rhett. We all went to lunch at Hutchins BBQ. It was AMAZING food! We highly recommend it.

It was a short visit, but we were very pleased to get to spend the time with them that we did. Many thanks to Rhett’s brother for having us stay.

We headed back to Kingman because I have to get settled into the room that I had rented and Brian needed to be on the road for his next adventure. So here is where it starts to split up a bit. Hang on for the ride.
