Getting out to the property was quite the adventure. We had to make a turn off of highway 191 and navigate through the Navajo nation. Eventually, we found ourselves on a road that led us to the general area of our property. It was a journey filled with excitement and anticipation.
We were fortunate to have our friends who had prior experience in the area accompany us. Their knowledge of the general location was invaluable as we embarked on our journey. The internet connectivity in that area was quite unreliable, making it difficult to navigate without their guidance. We were cautious not to venture too far beyond where they believed we needed to be, as we didn’t want to risk getting lost without a reliable internet connection.
Losing internet connection can be a real challenge when trying to navigate using GPS pins. It becomes more difficult to find our way without the guidance of online maps. This is especially frustrating when we are in unfamiliar areas or trying to reach a specific destination. Despite having the GPS pins to guide us, the lack of internet connection hinders our ability to rely on them effectively. It serves as a reminder of the dependence we have on technology and the limitations it presents in certain situations.
Finding the Property with Landmarks

Having a few landmarks to guide us made it a easier to locate the property we were searching for when the internet was down. These landmarks served as clear indicators, making the task of finding the property a simple one. With these landmarks in sight, we were able to navigate our way easily and efficiently towards our destination.
The property was exactly as it was described, and our excitement grew as we eagerly stepped foot onto our vast 4 and a 1/2 acres. We couldn’t wait to roam freely and explore every corner of our new land. The anticipation of discovering hidden gems filled the air as we set off on our adventure. The possibilities seemed endless, and we were ready to embrace the beauty and serenity that awaited us.
The aerial views we had of the property were taken back in 2015, so they don’t accurately reflect the current state of the landscape. Since then, many of the small shrubs that were once present have grown into large juniper trees. This natural growth and evolution have transformed the property, giving it a more mature and lush appearance. It’s fascinating to see how nature takes its course and how even the smallest plants can eventually become towering trees. (Google Maps photo)

The ample hillside provides the perfect opportunity to create beautiful burms and swales. These natural features not only add visual appeal to the landscape but also serve a practical purpose. By strategically shaping the land, we can capture and retain water, preventing erosion and promoting healthy plant growth. Additionally, the lower area at the bottom of the hill is ideal for a pond, which can be used to irrigate our trees and gardens. This sustainable water source will ensure that our plants thrive and flourish, meeting all of our gardening needs.
We have put a lot of thought and consideration into our purchase, and we are extremely happy with the outcome. Owning our own property has always been a dream of ours, and we can’t wait for the day when we can retire and enjoy all that it has to offer. It’s a place where we can create lasting memories and spend quality time with our loved ones. We envision peaceful mornings, sipping coffee on the porch and taking in the beauty of the surrounding nature. There’s a sense of peace and contentment that comes with knowing we have a place of our own to call home. We are grateful for this opportunity and eagerly await the day when we can embrace the joy of living on our property.
